Morris and Clara

New Member
Hi everyone! I'm Marta, mom to 2 diabetic kitties (and 15 non diabetic kitties 😁). Morris, an orange tabby, is around 10 years, FIV+, and has chronic stomatitis. He was diagnosed with diabetes 2 and a half years ago. A year after Morris was diagnosed, we found out that Clara, my 7 year old girl was diabetic as well. Both were challenging to treat initially since they were feral when they showed up, and never did really get "friendly." We're working it out and they're both doing well. Looking forward to interacting with you all and sharing advice.

Welcome to FDF, 17 cats! Wow, I envy you, I wish) I have 2 Corky (diabetic) and Coco, but I have canaries and a Bellied Conure, they keep me busy and happy, we would like you to set up your signature with the link Marielle send you above, and spreadsheet, below is also the link to set up your spreadsheet, please download it on Goggle Drive, all of the members will have access to it, so we can guide you as we see the daily changes in BG's, what insulin are you using how many units, you have experience with feline diabetes so you are a step ahead; I'm here wondering how do you feed your other 15 non diabetic cats, since feline diabetes requires a diet of wet can food between 0-10% carbs; if you are feeding kibbles, you will need to make a slow transition to the 0-10% wet can food, Kibbles contain approximately 20-30% carbs many of the members here enjoy Fancy Feast Pates between 0-10% carbs, also below there's a link for a Carb food calculator many of us use, to find out the carbs, you use the nutrient %'s and the true Carb % will be the Dry Matter Carbs the calculator
also a Food Chart you can use, the third column has the % of carbs for each food, there are many brands to choose from😸😸
