hi, Jessica here. My cat, Kitty, is 15 years old. my husband has had her since she was 6 years old, but she just got diagnosed with diabetes about 5 years ago. we give her twice daily shots of insulin and feed her prescription food (which is supposed to help regulate the insulin throughout the day). She is also hyperthyroid, so she gets twice daily injections of thyroid meds.

Hi Jessica,

Is this your first time posting about your Kitty and you? Maybe we can start a new thread so that you can get some help tailored for you or just some folks to come by and say hi and welcome you.

Looking forward to hearing about your Kitty, I have hypert kitties but none that were diabetic also. They also never told me about injections for thyroid meds, that would be so much easier.

Jessica, I am curious what injectable hyperthyroid medication you are giving since I am not aware of any. I am only aware of oral and transdermal medicines.

Also, you really do not need a prescription diet, any low-carb canned food is OK. Also, please tell us about the insulin and how much you are giving and how the dose was determined. Further, most of use home test the cat's blood glucose level using a human meter and taking blood by pricking tan ear.
