Rebecca has given us a new Relaxed Lantus ISG :-D

Could I please ask that those that have provided me wonderful advice over here pop in every once and awhile to help the baby ISG gt its feet under it?

I plan on Musette and I staying right here, but do also plan on trying to hang out to help with the new ISG, even if that is just helping to hold hands and gain more knowledge in treatment options.

I wonder if the new ISG should be named something like 'Alternative Ways to dose Lantus and Levemir'.

I only say that because already there is a thread over there on using Lantus with boosters and that to me is more of a tight regulation way of dosing.

Before the tight regulation ISG's for Lantus and Levemir ever existed, people routinely on the old board dosed Levemir with (Humulin) Regular insulin boosters, or even along with (Humulin) N. Steve and Jock had great success with the latter method.

Others would dose Levemir on a TID schedule successfully. Steve eventually went to that method and was able to get Jock off insulin for a while.

Here is a partial list of people who used 'boosters' with Levemir - Levemir being the basel insulin used and another short acting insulin as a bolus, or in just using Levemir TID:

I probably could have posted this over on the new forum, but didn't want to confuse any new people there. confused_cat

I just wonder if there is an actual place for people to go who want to dose in this manner?

Well, I just posted on the new ISG since it feels strange to keep posting here now that we're back on Lantus. But I miss you guys here. Not sure where I should be right now.

How about both places just link one post to the other so everyone can keep up with the advice being given. :-D

That is what I figure I may do for awhile at least, because I'm kind of cozy over here, but I would love to see this new forum get its feet under it too. I think it will make a nice 'middle' ground especially for those newly dxed and already stressed out enough without adding the pressures of TR-protocol or for those of us that all that testing just doesn't fit our lives.

I love it here too.. I loved it over on PZI too. I never experienced any negativity at all either place. Everyone is so nice and so very helpful.

I was pretty disapointed in that one too. But no one asked our opinion on what it should be called..sigh.

Personally, I am very disappointed that the new forum is called only lantus.

I guess we just don't exist in anyone's eyes but our own.

I'm done. See ya. And good luck.

I have to agree with you... it's like levemir is not important enough to share a name.
Relaxed Lantus implies just that ... non-TR for Lantus users.

It should have been Lantus/Levemir relaxed or non-TR... I think relaxed is unfair because non-TR shedules are just as important and tight but in their own ways..

I agree that it would have been nice to have it Lantus AND Levemir...but I think this little group is much more relaxed anyways. It's a small group but like a little family, and who wants to mess with that? I personally would stay right here anyways. :-)

Can those who are concerned about the new arrangement of ISG's please PM Rebecca. I feel the decision was done in haste - Venita proposed it one day and the next it's done? I am getting ready for work and don't have time this AM. Thanks.

I'm glad some people have spoken up. I think a name change of this ISG to something like "Alternative to Tight Regulation Lantus or Levemir," would be better and make this ISG more active with members who simply want to learn to manage these insulins without having to test a dozen times a day, which is not needed. But I'm afraid "relaxed" makes people think they don't have to test at all.

Rebecca, I hope you're reading.

I won't pm Rebecca...personal reasons....but will state here for what it's worth. I wrote on the TT thread that Lantus/Levemir should be the name of BOTH rooms...with whatever adjective that they want to add to it.
I don't like the word 'Relaxed' as it is insulting to the other group in that they are the opposite of relaxed. That is the implication.
Please note that I do share your feelings that Levemir should be stated right along side of Lantus.
And I don't think there is any EGO involved in this stance....it simply lets folks know Levemir exists beyong just a small sideline group.

I agree, Lori.

I did just make a name suggestion to Rebecca. Please see it and my reasoning here http://felinediabetes.com/FDMB/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=57792&p=631348#p631348

Thanks Vicki...I don't care all that much but it still seems like a funny word to use. Relaxed.
Maybe that's just me.
It's hard to come up with just what we mean tho.
For me it is a lot more to do with not pushing the envelope so hard and shooting those crazy low numbers and monitoring with karo or food all day/nite.
Loose Regulation comes to mind. We are not so 'tightly' regulating our cats. We are keeping them and ourselves in safety zones by not pushing quite so hard.
That's my 2 cents.

And really, some will post in both rooms to begin with and just feel out their comfort zone.
I know unless someone felt to me like a real type A I would likely suggest loose regulation as the person can become as tight as they can right here too.

Thank you Vicki...sniff.
I hope I expressed my feelings for your loss of Gandalf...I really have'nt been 'myself' lately. Perhaps you know what I mean.
Hugs Back,
Lori
