Okay so based on the thread Sue sent me and comments on the health board, I really think my TrueTest is giving bad numbers. With that said since his numbers are reading like they are is 1.0u a good place to start?

I have his SS updated with the ReliOn numbers.

Makes me feel like a bad parent, pulling him off the insulin last year thinking he was in remission and now knowing he wasn't. I just hope it has caused much damage.

Nancy,
did you try both meters on yourself to see what you got?

To answer your question, yes I think 1u is a good place to start. I'd stay there for 2-3 days, collect data, and reevaluate based on the numbers you get.

And please don't blame "you" for any if this meter junk!

Carl,

I haven't tested yet, I getting ready to the leave the office and go home. I am going to test then and see how it goes. I have matched the TrueTest against a Accu-Chek and thought the Accu-Check was wrong since I had been using the TrueTest for so long. But the Accu-Check is actually in the same line as what the ReliOn is running. I just bought the strips for the TrueTest but hate to open them, was thinking about returning them to get my money back. I think I am going to test the Relion & the Accu-Chek on myself if they are close to the same then I am going to keep using the ReliOn on Frodo.

I will post my results in the next hour and Frodo's new numbers withn the next 2 hours.

I am trying not to blame myself, it is just so disheartening.

I am very sorry about all this, I used truetrack before switching to the Confirm and the truetrack actually read a bit higher but within variance at higher numbers and was pretty damn close the the same when I used it again in the 30s-50s.

I wouldn't open the test strips if they'll take them back, however I don't think you can return even unopened testing products. If you aren't going to try to recoup your money by selling them on ebay or something then you may want to just open them and try it for your own peace of mind.

And maybe this is just a bounce that happened to coincide with the meter switch, you never know.

Okay I am home, I tested myself with the ReliOn and the One Touch, I have been calling it Accu-Chek but it is actually a One Touch, they read 1 point difference off the same blood drop. I ran a test on Frodo and it came in at 249 down from 313 this morning. I believe I am going to continue to use the ReliOn as the test strips are better priced and I will be running as many test as I can until I can get him below the 200 mark. If the TrueTest/Result was only a few points different it would not bother me so much, but this is over 100 points different. I can't deal with that.

I am taking the unopened test strips back to Walgreens. For the price of those 50 I can get 100 of the ReliOn.

They might not take the test strips back.

After Harley died I had an unopend box of 100 test strips from Walmart and tried to return them and they absolutely refused. Although after the hissy fit I threw at the customer service counter they now have a sign by the test strips that say they are not returnable and to call the 800 number on the box.

Rob,

I do remember seeing signs at Walmart, did not pay that much attention to them thought they were referencing the actual monitor not the strips. But good to know about Walmart.

Walgreens did take the test strips back. The box was unopened and I had my receipt, plus they do not have anything up stating they will not do returns on these products. They were actually very nice about it.

I am very happy with the ReliOn, the fact that it uses 1/2 the amount of blood is working our very well for me and Frodo.

Nice that Walgreens took them back, I'll keep that in mind, I would rather spend my money at stores that are willing to work with you not against you.

The box I had was unopened and I also had the receipt.
