Hi,
My name is Amy & we have been managing our 14 yr old cat's diabetes since this March. I had a feeling he was diabetic after a few weeks of large puddles in the litterbox, loud meowing, and increased appetite and thirst. He's managed pretty well on insulin 2 units BID and increased protein diet.

Not even two months later we became foster parents to a diabetic cat - he was returned to the animal rescue I am involved with due to his owner's inability to financially care for his needs. Banjo is about 7 yrs old but looks much older. His levels aren't stabilized and he's dropped a pound in just over a month. Our vet is monitoring him closely and he's now on 1 unit BID.

I look forward to learning from this group!

Welcome aboard! You will find tons of information here, as well as a lot of support from knowledgable and caring people. I am new here, too, and am in the process of trying to learn, learn, learn. Best of luck to you and your sweet fur babies.

Welcome to the greatest place to help your boy and get him under control So much great info and angels to help you. Tons of sticky notes to read...awesome...Home testing is one of the best things you can do for your cats and get him off the dry but remember to only do one thing at a time. Dry food sends their BG up my cats numbers is triples but you have to be careful about how you decrease your dry food and give insulin......Hugssssss and tons of beautiful healing green light.....to both of you...Kath
