I have recently joined the forum to get assistance in the care of my newly diagnosed diabetic cat.
My cat Sassy and I have been inseparable since her birth in 1999, she was brought to my door by some neighbor kids because they knew I had other cats.
She was just a little bitty thing and shouldn't have been away from her mother yet.
I took her in and bottle fed her for two weeks every few hours and during that time she traveled with me everywhere I went in a basket until she was strong enough to begin staying home and starting canned food.
Sassy is now 13 years old and we are just under the year mark of her diagnosis as diabetic.
I have been giving her 2 units twice a day of Lantus since then and she has adjusted quickly and her last curve was great (208 b4 morning shot and 228 b4 her evening shot).
I also think that she may have a thyroid or parathyroid issue as well and will be getting that checked soon.
I am very excited about having this forum to learn from, very interested in getting the spreadsheet set up, and any feedback that will keep my sassy healthy and happy.
Thanks for listening - Melissa
