Meter says "LO" again.
That’s good.
I don’t think you can really give any insulin with a BG of 77 on the pet meter.
I would test twice today with the ketone meter and make sure he eats plenty of food.
I would also feed him now and test in 2 or 3 hours to see if the BG goes down. That means the pancreas is kicking in and producing insulin in response to the food he’s eating.
If he gets lethargic, goes off his food or gets any ketones we will need to start the insulin again.
Make sure he eats well.
Are you happy with that?
I think you could probably start a new thread sometime today, as well as this one is getting a bit long.

Thank you so much for your help! Yes, I am very happy with that! I will test his ketones two more times throughout the day and will also start a new thread tonight after work.

Thanks. That will be just about my bed time but I’ll watch out for you. How you can get some sleep.
Test for ketones in the am too please before AMPS if you can so we know the lay of the land.
At +3, BG is 86, and ketones is 0.2. Not 100% sure what exactly 0.2 means.

On my Facebook post in Feline Diabetes a few days ago, Melissa said this, so i think that means 0.2 is okay.

"Becca Laura with the blood meters, most cats tend to baseline between LO and 0.8. When they creep above that we keep a closer eye, but I personally start to raise an eyebrow once they get above 1.8 or so and start saying to increase fluids. There are two studies out there (I can get you.links.if you actually want to read them):
Study 1: blood ketone reading of 2.55mmol/L or higher is 94% accurate in diagnosing DKA, and values below that are 68% accurate at ruling out DKA
Study 2: blood ketone reading of 2.4mmol/L or higher is 100% accurate in diagnosing DKA, and values below that are 87% accurate at ruling it out

We've had cats that run much higher than those cutoffs and do not end up with DKA, so it's an ECID thing. But until you have a baseline, better to be cautious."

with a blood ketone meter, what you're looking for is a number under .6, which means almost no ketones. Not really a concern as long as it stays there.

.6 to 1.5 = monitor closely, check more often, could be warning sign of incoming DKA if trending up

above 1.5 = pay close attention to behavior, if no appetite, lethargic, call your vet because it could be the very beginning signs of DKA

It’s ok. Is he eating well?
I've been updating his spreadsheet throughout the day. He's doing really well and has been very playful! I'm finally starting to see his personality come out, which is great! He must not have been feeling 100% since I got him because I've never seen him this playful and silly. He's still his wonderful, sweet self too though.

I just got done with work (it's 11 pm here), and I'm really tired, but I promise I'll start a new thread tomorrow :)
