Good Morning!
I'm very new at this and learning the ins and outs. I have to find some low cost healthy cat food as I can't afford everything required to keep my Kisses as healthy as possible.
I see different people posting things about Frisky's, fancy feast. 9 lives etc
Please give me the latest list & flavor and if they are low card & still considered acceptable for Felines w/ diabetes.
TIA

The food chart is here: https://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/dr-pierson-new-food-chart.174147/

Look at the column for carbs and choose foods that have 10% or less. There's lots of different brands to choose from. Gravy / sauce based foods tend to be high in carbs so are not good to feed as the main diet but good to have on hand in case blood glucose levels drop low. Most pate foods are low carb.

This Fancy Feast list is old so cross check it with the food chart to see if the carbs have changed: https://felinediabetes.com/glutenfree.htm Some store generic brands are very similar to Fancy Feast and may cost less.

Most Friskies and FF pates are low carbs. You want the pate version not grilled since it has gravy and that’s what makes them higher carb.

FOOD CHART have a look on this chart and choose foods that are under 10% in the price range you’re looking for

You will also need some higher carb foods for that hypo box..information in the help us help you link.

My cats are enjoying Tiny Tiger (chewy brand) and Kirkland Pates.

We feed Fancy Feast Classic Pate, and have 5 beautiful, soft, silky, healthy cats. We also use Tiny Tiger Classic Pate, which is pretty much identical and a few dollars cheaper per case. You don't have to spend a lot to feed your cats properly. Here's a few of ours to show you:

Awww..what pretties!
Thank you for the info!
You & this forum have been a lifesaver for a Kitty mama that is a nervous wreck.

This one was found by a rescue living wild in the woods after having been abandoned pregnant and raising four kittens on her own while sick.
We adopted her last September. She was 7.5 pounds when we got her, still emaciated, short thin coarse patchy fur, you could see the shape of her bones through her fur. They were feeding her some expensive, fancy named foods that actually were at about 35% carbs, yet she wasn't really gaining weight yet, even tho her kittens were weaned and she was now healthy and well fed. When we first got her, I noticed she drank frequently and peed huge amounts often. Oh no! Not that...!
So, we rushed her food transition off the expensive stuff the rescue had fed her to our "cheap" Fancy Feast Classic Pate, and Tiny Tiger Classic Pate, Turkey flavor which is about the lowest carb of any. She prefers the Tiny Tiger, so that's what she gets. Very quickly, the water drinking stopped and the huge, frequent peeing stopped. She quickly gained weight, and her fur is now thick, long, silky (we weren't sure she was actually a long-haired cat when we got her!).
She's now up to a healthy 12 pounds, long-haired, soft, silky, healthy, happy, beautiful cat.
"Cheap" food like Fancy Feast and Tiny Tiger are just as good as expensive name brands. And when you look at the insane carb levels some of those expensive brands have, the "cheap" food is actually much better.

(she looks skinny because she's actually "hiding" behind the flattened bag. Silly Lilly!)
