Hello ! Name is Chelsea, my fur baby (Lisa) who is 9 yrs old has been diagnosed with diabetes :,)

I’ve reached out to another diabetic cat community that helps rehoming / assistance for help but have not received anything yet and want to figure this out asap for Lisa.

long story short - about a month ago she started urinating outside her litter box. I thought it was behavioral and did all I could -then narrowed it down to medical. $450 later I have a cat with diabetes( apparently for about 3 weeks now)

he suspected a uti as well and gave me antibiotics, had stated besides this she’s a perfectly healthy cat. She has been pretty consistent with her litter box again on the plus side.

I am not able to care for her. Financially, or to be consistent with what she needs to be and stay healthy :,( and with each day passing I just get more worried for her.

I don’t want to throw her in a shelter, or foster family to be moved again and again. She’s literally the calmest, nicest, loving cat you’d ever run across. And recently caught 2 mice from my house ( I live by a golf course ) Has been around dogs, kids, other cats, a skunk, and other animals. She just wants to sleep and cuddle. She just wants all the petting you’d give her haha
Even when she’s upset she doesn’t claw at you or anything.

What can I do ???? It’s been 3 days since the vet… and I can’t afford to go to do another checked up or get her insulin.. even if I was able to - im not able to follow up with the care a diabetic cat needs, a lot of the time I’m not home for over 12 hours.
Family and friends aren’t an option.. and I don’t know anyone who would possibly be willing to welcome her into their home.

whats the best thing for her ??
She’s so so so sweet she deserves a HOME. Honestly im thinking of putting her down to save her from the stress and abandonment that a shelter would bring on.. but it’s just so unfair and heartbreaking and just feels wrong as she seems fine.

any input is welcomed. apologizes if this isn’t what this forum is for.

Welcome to our Forum I myself panicked at first my Corky is 11 years old had him since hews 8 weeks old, he was disguised 1 1/2 years ago, I suggest you communicate with our long term members that can guide you, if he's doing fine, perhaps is a matter of perhaps treat the Diabetes with insulin and testing, I also broke my bank when Corky was hospitalized for 6 days, there are Fundraiser that can help you insulin and supplies if you qualify, after one of our member contact you, and suggest about you baby and if he is t use insulin they will help you create a Spreadsheet for you to log his glucose, help in dosing, on increase decrease, trust me my Corky would not be here if I wouldn't have this Forum, , he is very very healthy, he eats since diagnosed 0-8 % carb foods and wet food, I learned that the major reason for diabetes in cats is the dry food that has 0ver 20% carbs cates do not digest the carbs so the pancreas stop producing insulin, I nm not an expert by all means, this is t ease your panic as I had and sometimes do, cats with diabetes is not a disease is an illness, with love and testing, giving insulin, posting on the Spreadsheet eating wet food and this Forum, I do not think you should get rid of him, by the he's beautiful,
you can be guided by the right person or persons that can guide you along the way if you decide not to give him up, he sounds like a good kitty, all your concerns will be answers, very awesome you took him in, the shelter at least here in Miami they put an animal to sleep if it's an older or ill pet, is sad, I will tag some of the members to contact you and help you:bighug::cat::cat:
