I got Darwin and her sister Riley last year just before Christmas. Darwin had been treated for hair lost with steroids which caused her to become a diabetic. When I got her she weighted almost 6 lbs and took her immediately to Dr Harry. She was on the wrong insulin and he changed to Lantus G with two shots 12 hrs apart of 2 units. The change has be astonishing. Her BG runs between 80 and 110 and she now weighs about 13.8 lbs. She actually purrs when I give her the shots and she's down to 1 unit twice a day. She gets only wet food, 2 1/2 oz 3 times a day. I also give her chicken as a treat. The only issue I have is that her sister gets quite jealous. I have to act like I'm giving Riley a shot and a treat. The cost has been high because I make sure that Darwin gets checked every 2 months and Riley twice a year, but it is so worth it when you get those rubs and purrs from my two good buddies.

It's nice to see you've had such a positive experience and Darwin is under good control

If she stays at 50-130 for a week on 1 unit, then reduce to 0.75 and see how that goes. If at any point she drops under 50, also reduce by 0.25. She could be heading to remission!
