Just a quick hello. My Lucky was diagnosed 3weeks ago. His numbers are still very high. Learning he needs a diet change. I’ll be changing from dry RX to low carb can food tomorrow. Wish us luck & better numbers!

Hi Lisa and Lucky and welcome to the forum.
I’m glad you are changing to a low carb diet.
Can you tell us what type of insulin you are giving and the dose please?

To give Lucky the best chance at getting regulated, I would suggest you have a look at home testing the blood glucose so you can see how low the insulin dose is taking Lucky each time. Just getting it tested every so often at the vet will not give you a proper picture of what is happening.
Here is some information about HOMETESTING HINTS AMD LINKS

Also here is a link to HELP US HELP YOU where you will find information about our spreadsheet, signature, and the hypo kit which is so important, and other useful information. The signature will tell us all about Lucky and will appear under all your posts so we can easily read about him when we help you. And the spreadsheet will give us blood glucose data so that we can help you with dosing.

Just a word of caution about changing over to a low carb diet…I would recommend you wait until you are hometesting the blood glucose before you do the change over, as swapping to a low carb diet can drop the BG by 100 points and the dose may need adjusting to avoid a hypo.
Keep asking questions . We are happy to help

Hi Lisa! Glad to see you over here from the Facebook group!

Please do NOT drop from 6U to 1U.....that's too big of a drop even with the dry food and usually just ends up having you waste time working your way back up.

We need to get a spreadsheet set up for you. I'll send you a private message so I can help you get that done!
