My cat Bodhi was dx DM this past July 2, 2024. My Vet put a Freestyle Libre2 monitor on him and I used App on my phone to monitor him x 14 days. Really helped Bodhi with accurate daily insulin regimen. Stable for now.

Welcome Beth, you are in the right place, I'm glad you can monitor your baby with the Freestyle Libre2, just be aware at least with my experience, when my Corky left the hospital, he left with one two, I can tell you that my experience, was horrifying, there were many times that the sensor would fall off, or stopped working before 8 days of placement, know that they are guaranteed, if they stop working or fall off, you can call the customer service number and they will replace it, but make sure you do not let them know id=s for your cat, otherwise they will not replace it and it takes about 48 hours to receive another, so always have an extra one if that in case you need it, I also had the experience that the alarm for low BG was monitored it was never correct in the middle of the night the alarm would go off that my Corky's BG was below 50, I was going crazy, it never read the correct BG weather high or low, and I found this out when he was down to the last senso and I got the ReliOn Premier monitor and strips, I would test with the ReliOn after testing with the Libre, and it was way off, the ReliOn for me not only was a mental relief but extremely less costly, yes, you need to pinch your baby's ear tip, but you always get the right reading. in our Main Forum you will find Sticky notes and tips on how to test the ear, the food chart, which is very important once your cat is diagnosed with diabetes to feed him only low carb foods between 0-8% carbs, I vow on Fancy Feast foods,
it's important that you let the experience members all the details such as diagnose, test, type of insulin, dose, what he eats, how often you test and the readings, this way the expert members can help you to get you in the right also a Spreadsheet is important to place all the BG data as you test, below you will find several links to get you started, again, welcome, we are here to help you, I am not an expert member, but well known member, I can help you in any regular concerns, for dosing, insulin type, increase/decrease dosing or other illnesses or other major concerns there are other main experts that can help you on a great journey, myself I trust this Forum and expert blindly, they have helped me take my Corky and myself to rely on them for any concerns and he is doing awesome and I have been able to learn how to take care of his diabetes, best to you and your Fur baby

We often suggest that you learn how to home test in addition to using the Libre. For some cats, the Libre reads incorrectly at the low end of the range. In addition, some cats are quite adept at removing the sensor! Having a back up, hand held meter can be very helpful in either of those scenarios. Many people here use the Walmart Relion meter as the strips are inexpensive.

It would be helpful if we knew a bit more about Bodhi. What insulin did your vet prescribe? What are you feeing your kitty? Low carb food and an insulin that is appropriate for feline diabetes along with home testing are key to managing your cat's diabetes.

Thank you for the warm welcome, much appreciated. I had similar experiences with Libre2. Bodhi had it removed last week. We are both still adjusting to the routine. Thanks, again, for your compassionate support.
