Hi, I'm Suzi and my sugar kitty is Snickers. She was officially diagnosed on Jan 29th and has been on insulin since March 5th. She is currently on 2 1/2U of Vetsulin twice a day. Tomorrow I am hoping my vet will give me the prescription of Lantus I want. She has pretty bad neuropathy even though she is on methylcobalamin. She struggles but doesn't let it stop her too much.

She is almost 12. Her birthday is July 5th. Along with her I own her brother, Milton. I owned their mother so I have had them in my life since birth. She is my everything and I love her to pieces! We recently took our first camping trip with her. This is because she pretty much won't let anyone but me and sometimes my husband, give her the shot. We are going to learn to travel with her.

I have joined the FB page already and finally got my account here. I have already received so much help. You guys are great!

Switching to Lantus is a very good idea. You will get better duration of the insulin with a long acting insulin like lantus. The Peripheral neuropathy will improve once the blood sugars are under control. My cat had it badly but is back to normal now.
The best thing you can do for your cat is to do as Larry suggested and home test her blood sugars, and feed a low carbohydrate canned food. http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/food-links.133016/
This link has lots of info about food for diabetic cats.

Yes I do home test her. We have the relion. Her numbers stay around 200-500, with an occasional low between 40-60. And she is on a wet food diet of Nulo and Fancy feast. When she was very first diagnosed we did research on the best food and almost immediately figured out prescription food was not going to be fed to her.

That is good.
If you could use the link Larry sent you to set up Snickers SS, that will enable people to see how the numbers are going and advice you on dosing. If you run into trouble setting it up post for some help.
