The FDA put out a new warning for Anzemet injectable use w/ chemotherapy for humans. There are sadly, kitties on this board who have cancer. Anzemet is commonly used for nausea w/ chemo and p-titis kitties. There is already concern in the veterinary literature about Anzement having a low risk of heart disease as a side effect. Many vets prefer the sister drug ondansetron/Zofran for this reason. The FDA is taking it more serious now for humans. Anyone using Anzemet for their kitties might wish to discuss this new info w/ their vet(s). Especially if their kitty has a hx of heart disease, or a condition ( ie hypokalemia ) that can cause heart irregularities.

thanks, cheryl.
a shame, because cleo tolerated anzemet better than she did ondansetron. she suffered no ill effects from anzemet, tho (no underlying heart condition, either).

appreciate the warning.

Thanks for posting this... It's amazing... I took 'something' when receiving chemo.... and never got sick.. heck I put on weight.. lots.... but have no clue what it was... Since I was given six months to live on the day of my surgery... Feb. 23, 2006..... I guess, I won't panic regarding the outcome...
