Hi, my father's ~14 year old cat has just been diagnosed - I'm trying to assist from a distance.

My father can barely manage the injections. His cat is receiving ProZinc.

On the third dose (twice a day dosing) - he left the bottle out for ~11 hours, room temp.

I've read some websites that think that's no big deals, others that are adamant about constant refrigeration.

What have others experienced?

Thanks!

Ikve done that. It did not appear to affect it adversely. I did break it shortly thereafter, so long term it might have become less effective sooner.

And spreaking of breaking the vial - have him get some of the stretchy, self-sticking bandage wrap and wrap some around the vial to protect it from breaking should it drop.

Another way to protect the vial is to place it in an empty pill bottle and stuff cotton or a paper towel around it so it fits snugly. Then when he needs to draw insulin, he only needs to take the top of the bottle off.

Thanks - good suggestions with the bottle, too - handling small slippery objects can be difficult!
