hi. thanks so much for being there. i need some help. so tibbs was diagnosed this past fri. his numbers have been as follows:
jul 15 -9am-50-no ins given ** 9pm-242-2 units given ** not eating much
jul 16- 9am-55-no ins given **9pm202-1 unit given**not eating much
jul 17-9am-102- no ins given** 9pm 320-1 unit given**ate a little more today

i am concerned that he went up to 320. i am following the protocol of no insulin if he is well below 200 so every morning he has been low. is 320 dangerous? i want to keep the dose steady for at least a week but
i haven't been able to give a morning dose yet because his am numbers are so low. i am only testing him preshot because he is very difficult to test.i really need some advice on how to proceed and should i be "freaking out"about the 320 tonight? also is there some way to make the testing less stressful for him. please any help is greatly appreciated. i am so upset.i know i have to test him but it breaks my heart that he gets so upset.

The 320 is most likely because he hasn't had any insulin since last night. If you have to keep skipping shots, that's usually a sign the dose is too high. I would suggest you split the 1u in half and try giving .5u tonight and see if he's high enough tomorrow morning to shoot. You want a dose that is safe to give twice a day so he has full coverage.

Would you please add a bit more info to your signature for us please? It's nice to see the insulin you are using, the meter used for testing, food being fed, any complicating health conditions your kitty has. Sure would appreciate seeing that info if you are willing to put it in your signature.

I am too new myself to offer advice....but feel free to look at Skooter's spreadsheet....he has been as high as 528 and now with the help of this group we are looking at hitting the greens for the second time (and second night in a row).....also when we joined the forum he was at 5U twice a day....currently he is at 2.25U twice a day....
