Hi Judyneed, have you been testing your cat at all so far? It does take practice and perhaps a full curve is not the way to begin. A full curve is testing every 2 hours in the 12 hour cycle, that's from the morning insulin injection until the evening injection. I know you want to change the insulin and I can understand that, but there is a learning curve to testing. Start by taking kitty to the place you have picked out, that you will always use. Make sure it's comfortable for both of you, and with good light. Rub and fondle kitty's ears, then give a low carb treat every time. Let the cat associate the testing process with a treat. Do this as many times a day as you can. Then you can try a test, be sure to try to avoid hitting the vein, that will give you more blood than you really want to handle, especially if kitty decides to shake his/her head. Look closely at the "sweet spot" in the picture, and if you can, use a small flashlight behind the ear to see the vein and the bit of ear between the vein and the edge of the ear.
Diet is also a huge factor in helping regulate a cat's blood sugar level. What are you feeding him/her? How much, how many times a day?
