Hi, I'm new here and I'm hoping it's not too late for me to find advice and help.
First, I'm posting to ask for help in finding a vet near my area who would be familiar with treating a cat who has diabetes and pancreatitis. We live in the Clermont, Florida area, which is not far from Orlando, Florida.
My cat, Peter Pan, was diagnosed with pancreatitis and diabetes in February 2013. He is on insulin twice daily and a diet of Purina DM canned food. Until recently, he has been doing ok with this treatment. However, it now appears the pancreatitis is acting up again.
The problem is that my husband and I are very concerned about the vet we have been using. She took over the practice, when our previous vet retired. This was just before Peter Pan got sick. Over the time she has been treating him, and his sister (who has no serious illness), we continue to lose confidence in her and her decisions regarding treatment. We're not confident that she is experienced with treating a pet with such serious conditions. She provides conflicting information, doesn't follow though, and does not like to answer questions. We need to find a vet who is able to treat Peter Pan before it's too late for him.
We want to do what's right for Peter Pan and not keep putting through what, maybe, unnecessary tests and medication. We've had other seriously ill cats in years past, but we always had confidence in our vet. This is very difficult and we're just not sure how to proceed.
Please if anyone has advice or can help with finding a vet, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks you.
Rose
