Hello All,
I love all of you, but hate that I'm having to post again on FDMB. Nervous Pervis has been in remission since 3/19/16. I've been testing his BG off and on since then and his numbers were always below 100 until last week when it was 112. Today, I took it because I noticed the change in the amount in what I was cleaning out of the litter box and his BG was 349! I changed his food without checking the carbs because he tends to not be able to keep his food down. I found another dry food that he can keep down and now his BG has skyrocketed. I failed to check the carbs on it before buying it. I have never been able to get him to eat any low-carb canned food even after trying different brands for months and months. I had also tried sprinkling his food with FortiFlora with no success. My two civvies both eat a combination of canned and dry food. I guess I had an inkling that things were going bad because I ordered Young Again Zero Carb cat food earlier this week. I should get it tomorrow. I can't put him back on his old dry food because it makes him sick.

In his pre-OTJ days, I was using ProZinc, which I still have a bit of it left. I was going to start him on Lantus back in March, but then he went into remission. I have had Lantus pens in the fridge since March.

What should I do now? I will be measuring him again later tonight.

Thanks,
Nervous P. and Terri

I would start Lantus.
What dry food was he eating?
O tried getting my Bailey to eat drive for 8 years or so and was not successful.

if he was on low carb food and the only change has been the higher carb, you could wait for a few days and see how his BG responds once he's on the YA before restarting insulin

So, do you think I should start him back on insulin or wait until I get him started on the Young Again Zero Carb, which should be tomorrow? He was eating Precise Holistic Complete Salmon Meal and Spring Yellow Pea, which he'd been eating since February and his numbers stayed low. I just switched him to Fromm Salmon and Tunachovy in the past few weeks, which I am guessing made his numbers jump back up. Unless they were going to jump sooner or later even on the Precise.

Thanks Chris and China. I think I will wait a few days.
Well, Nervous P. has been on YA Zero since Thursday, although I'm not sure he fully started eating it until Friday afternoon. His numbers came down around a 100, but then seemed to jump back up. It's looking like it's coming down, but slowly. All my testing was done in the evening except for this mornings test, which was around 9:00 a.m. Do you think I need to start the shots? I haven't used Lantus before, so I'm going to need to read up on it.

8/24 - 349
8/25 - 356
8/27 - 330
8/28 - 268
8/29 - 316
8/30 - 337 (morning test)
