Needle Length Question

I am using BD Insulin Syringes 30 gauge, 30 Units, 12.7 mm needle. Inside the box is a pamphlet advertising their new syringe with a 6 mm needle and a rounded hub. The shorter needle seems like it would be nicer for Caesar. Is a shorter needle better? Thank you for your responses!

I use the BD ultrafine needles (I think the ones I buy are 8mm 31G). I love them, my cat used to growl getting the shot, now doesn't even notice. A little pricey if you buy them at a pharmacy (like $40 at CVS around here), but I get them on ADWdiabetes online, and pay $20, and they have a 12% off sale today (code SAVE12).

I think it depends on you, your cat, and your cat's coat. I've read many people on here who prefer shorter needles. I recently bought the shorter needles and kind of miss the longer ones now. But my cat has a very thick coat, and wiggles a lot. I think the longer needles made it easier to make sure he got the full dose, but I had a similar experience to Meya14, that my cat seems to prefer the ultrafine needles - he reacts less to them.

I use the same length needle as yours, 12.7mm / 0.5 inches. Like Djmila was saying shorter may not work for some cats. My boy is one of those. He has thicker skin and the Maine Coon undercoat
