Need to Change Time

Hello, I just started 1 unit of insulin (pro zinc) 2x per day at 530am and 530pm last night. Scooby has now had two doses. My wife and I were talking and think 730 am and pm would be more plausible for multiple reasons.

A little background. I am the only one that is able to care for Scooby to the extent that needs to be done as my wife developed allergies during her second pregnancy about two years ago. So feeds and changes his water but unfortunately that’s about the extent she can help.

We haven’t started home monitoring as of yet because I am still in the first week or so of diagnosis but watched a video last night on how to do it from the ear. We have a monitor from my wife gestational diabetes during pregnancy so I just need strips.

Anyway, my question is how do I safely go about changing from 530am/pm to 730am/pm?

As a fellow Prozinc user, the best and safest way to do from my experience is slowly over a period of several days.
Start with 5:45AM, then 6:00PM one day.
6:15AM, then 6:30PM the next day.
6:45AM, then 7:00PM, the next, and so on.

If there's more urgency in the time change you can increase by half hour increments instead. I've done that with no problems at need.

Also, the best thing for asking Prozinc questions is to hang out in the Prozinc section of the forum.

That's where all the cool kids are.

ProZinc allows up to an hour of 'play' time. So, at the very most, you could move the shot by one hour at a time. Since you are not yet monitoring (glad to hear you plan to start soon.. it's SO important), I would recommend smaller time increments, if possible, just to avoid too much overlap since you do not know the glucose levels when you give shots. I would probably go with 30 min changes each time.

I will start the change tonight. Also, today, I pulled out the glucometer. It’s a Onetouch Ultra 2, is that okay? I can easily run to Walgreens to get more strips and lancets. The vet hasn’t returned my call regarding the time change but as long as I can check his levels and spread the feeding to 4x instead of normal 3x that should suffice?
