I am currently only able to give my cat injections twice a day because I am working full time and the schedule permits it. I will be moving back to my university town after the end of my Co-Op and I will have to get a part time job on top of my classes. I don't see this going well with needing to give 2 injections twice a day every 12 hours.
As far as I know my only hope is some how getting it to where he doesn't need insulin anymore in the next 2 months (is that even possible?), give him up for adoption and I really don't want to do that, he has been with me and his brother since 2009, or other more drastic measures.....which I really really don't want to do.
Also as a student the expenses of this are really adding up. The syringes are 32 dollars for 100 and that doesn't even last a month. On top of all of the other things I need I just don't know how well this is going to go.
I could really use some advice or suggestions.

It is possible to have a cat go into remission in the timescale you're looking at - but of course nothing is guaranteed. I think it would definitely be worth trying - if you can follow the Tight Regulation protocol as closely as you can, that will give him the best chance possible.

I do understand the costs adding up - I wasn't working when Rosa was diagnosed and in her first week, she just about wiped out the small amount of savings I had left with vet visits for diagnosis, insulin etc. You might want to try Ebay or Craigslist to see if anyone's selling (or even giving away) the supplies you need. I don't know how much it would bring the costs down but it's got to be worth looking.

If you're in the US, you can get syringes from WalMart for $12.58 for 100...and if you have a script for Lantus, you can look at the last post in the Insulin from Canadian Pharmacies thread and get Lantus from Canada for 1/3rd the cost it is here in the states at Marks Marine Pharmacy (a lot of us are using them now!!)

It would be great if you could get him into remission too! Wish there was some way we could tell which cats will do that quickly and which ones will take more time (or might not ever achieve it but be a lot healthier)

We had another member about a year ago that worked full time as well as being a student....it wasn't easy, but he was able to make it work....and he was also lucky enough to have his kitty go into remission too!

I am going to get the prescription from my vet tomorrow or Saturday to use that pharmacy. My vet charges $220 for 100 ml vial. I will check at walmart for the syringes, thanks for the suggestion.

Maybe find a student interested in veterinary sciences/nursing to come shoot for you to gain experience.
