This board has been very helpful in the fact that I know that I need to get Methyl B12 into Catman fast.

I have read that the capsules are easy to sprinkle on food but the delivery times are slowed due to the COVID-19 PHE.

The GNC in my area is closing so I was able to get these https://www.gnc.com/vitamin-b12-cobalamin/253313.html 2500 mcg with no sugar for sugar substitutes for only $10! I was able to grind two up and mix them in his food easily enough but I'm not thrilled about the coating and he left a little bit of liquipoo in the box last night but it might have been also because he went low yesterday.

I'm wondering what other tricks people have learned over time related to Methyl B-12 and diabetic neuropathy.
  • Can I dissolve the caplets in water first to remove the coating?
  • Does Methyl B-12 cause diarrhea?
  • What was that link for the capsules?
  • Is there a discount code?
  • Am I wasting my time with BGs in yellow?
  • What other options do you suggest?
  • How long did it take you to see results?
These will tie us over until we can get the capsules delivered.

But until I get his sugar levels down I'm not sure about ordering Zobaline.

We never experienced any of these symptoms from M-B12. Back in 2008-9 all I could get were the tablets. Crushed one tablet and put on every meal Trouble ate. (I think they were 3000 mg.) AND made his food pink! But I was assured it was cherry flavor NO SUGAR. All I can say is it made all the difference for Trouble it righted his neuropathy before his numbers came down. They WERE in the process of coming down, but still in the "yellows", when he stared walking just fine again. Mind you this was a LONG time ago. I dont know about the newer products on the market these days. IT IS water soluble so any excess Trouble just pee'd out.
GOOD LUCK be patient ;)

Hi there I don't see a spreadsheet set up for Catman?
If you need advice about dosing such as when to increase or decrease members need to see his data in order to give advice
I will post the link after this

Most of us use the Vitacost brand B-12 methly, I have never had a problem with diarrhea at all

Hi Here is the link https://www.vitacost.com/vitacost-vitamin-b-12-methylcobalamin-5000-mcg-100-capsules-6

Alot of members use this , I use it myself you can buy it on line from Vitacost
Vitamin B-12 Methylcobalamin -- 5000 mcg - 100 Capsules
It's 17.99 just be sure this is the one you buy
The only difference is the Zobaline has 200 mcgs of folic acid
So I buy the folic acid at the supermarket and crush it up and add it to the B-12
If you can't find the 200 mcg get the 400 mcg and cut it in half
The Vitacost brand is a capsule so just open it and pour the powder on the wet food
Has no taste, no need to crush it up
The Zobaline is 33.99 for 60 pills, too expensive
I saw a big improvement I'd say 3 months, could be sooner. One capsule a day.
Once you get your kitty better regulated the B-12 methyl will help

Vitamin B-12 Methylcobalamin -- 5000 mcg - 100 Capsules

put on every meal
Thanks!

Did I read this correctly. That you put 3,000 micrograms on each meal? Assuming twice a day that would be about 6,000. So I'm going with two 2500 microgram capsules in one but it is very pink!

Maybe I'll try one in the morning and one in the evening to keep his levels up.

At $10 a bottle I'm thinking I might want to run back for more! I was able to dissolve them in a little water before mixing them into the food and that got rid of the waxy white coating.

You don't have to out it on every meal, I just open the vutacost capsule and mix it in with the wet food. Yes it's pink.
You really don't have to give 6000 mcg's
How many are you getting for that 10.00 bottle?
What do you mean when you said to keep his levels up?
Until you get his BG regulated and seeing better numbers the B-12 methyl won't do much
Since we can't see your spreadsheet and see how the insulin is working we can't give any advice about the yellows you are talking about above

  • Am I wasting my time with BGs in yellow?
  • We need to see his numbers

Thank you for responding so quickly!

There are 100 caplets of 2,500 mcg each in one bottle but it's only $10 because they are going out of business.

By "levels" I meant keeping his methyl B-12 levels up over the course of the day by giving 2500 mcg in a morning meal and another 2500 mcg in an evening meal sort of like you do with pain meds. I should have known better to than to use a generic word like levels on this forum.;)

I don't know if there any chemists out there but I would be interested to know if diluting it in water does anything. I may call GNC and ask.

Yes my long-term goal is to get the capsules from vitacost but I wanted to get this started fast and their delivery times were slow probably due to the public health emergency.

I am hoping that by starting early it will build up in his system by the time I get his BG regulated as we are still relatively new at this and he is quite bouncy but of course you can't see that because I can't share my spreadsheet because of the stupid hacking bot but that's another post in the spreadsheet forum.

For 100 of them it's worth the 10.00 dollars
When you do order from vitacost I have never waited longer than about 4 or 5 days, they are pretty quick

I just read your previous posts, boy that is freaky.
I'm sorry this happened to you
I hope you can get it straightened out
Maybe you can call a pharmacy and ask them about diluting it

unfortunately, it doesn’t work that way as far as building up as it’s water soluble and the excess gets “peed out” the b12 methyl works directly on the spinal fluid to help regenerate the nerves, but while the nerves are being attacked by the excess glucose it won’t help because the damage is ongoing and the supplement doesn’t have a chance to work. Minnie recovered in about 3 months after getting regulated but I think it really depends on how severe the neuropathy is. Hers was pretty bad. She’s completely fine now btw

Ive been using liquid methyl b12 by Earth Harmony Naturals. My cat & I both seem happy with it.

A few reasons why I like it:
-1 full dropper is exactly 3000mcg,
-no flavoring & it doesn't really alter the color of the food (if mixed into food),
-only 3 ingredients: b12, water & vegetable glycerin,
- I can dose my cat directly into his mouth with no struggles from him (no spitting or foaming from taste
-1 bottle lasts about a month & the cost is just under $12 on Amazon Prime

DH went back to the closing GNC and got two more 100 caplet bottles, this time both together were $10!

I can rinse of the white coating and then soak 2 of them in his FF until they dissolve before feeding him.

Hopefully we get his darn BG down and be able to see the benefits....
