Hi Everyone,

My Alpha Trak 2 test strips were suppose to arrive today and they didnt. I have three left and he needs to be home tested a lot over this weekend. I cant get to Walmart, so hopefully something that is sold in Walgreens, CVS or rite aid.
I looked at the charts and I am still confused. Is there any meter that would read close to Alpha Trak?
I dont care how much it costs, I just need a backup. What is most loved on the board? Most accurate?
I know they are only suggestions, and I am just looking for feedback . I want to go out and buy it tonight.

The Alpha Trak will read about 30 points higher than most human glucometers at the low end because it was normed (set) to read animal blood not human. They will pretty much always be different.

Take the list, go to a pharmacy & compare the costs & features of the the lowest sipping meters and strips. Then pick one with a small drop size & affordable.

Bayer contour is an easy to use meter, small amount of blood, no coding of meter/strips. Not sure pricing however. but if you are looking to get through one week, you can order strips online which will most likely be cheaper.

one touch ultra regular and mini meters are also good - although they require larger amount of blood, need to code the meter/strips and again not sure pricing.
