As many of you already know, I am adopting a new diabetic cat and looking at various insulins to switch him to. He currently is on Vetsulin.
Years ago I had a cat on BCP PZI so I am somewhat familiar with it.
What is the average price for ProZinc or BCP PZI. I tried calling BCP, but they will not give out a price until they have a prescription on file.
Since these insulins come in a vial, how long do they usually last before you start to notice they are not as effective in controlling BG levels. I will be hometesting.
I have also used Lantus in the past on a couple of my diabetics. I have had 4, two were adopted knowing they were diabetic. It has been a few years since I lost my last one and it is time to bring another into my life.
In addition to the ProZinc and PZI, I am also looking at the various types of insulin glargine. I am getting Bandit on 6/27 and he already has his appointment scheduled with my vet for the next day. I am trying to get as much information on the different insulins before this visit so I know what to ask my vet for.
Thank you for any info and recommendations you give.
