Hey everyone,

I want to change my cat's diet to something that is a little bit more accessible. Right now he is on Primal and his insulin is ProZinc.

What are other options that I could get that would still be good for him. I don't know if what insulin he gets makes a different.

Thank you,
Sharon

We recommend low carb wet food. There are grocery store brands like Friskies and Fancy Feast (pate versions only) that are fine to feed a diabetic kitty. If a cat has been eating dry kibble and then is switched to low carb wet food the blood glucose levels can drop, sometimes quite a bit. That requires an adjustment in insulin dose. Other than that, there's no particular food requirement for a particular insulin.

Here is a chart with a lot of foods listed. You want one that is under 5% calories from carbs (the first 'C' column). http://www.catinfo.org/docs/FoodChartPublic9-22-12.pdf
Primal... That's raw, right? Freeze-dried and raw foods start at page 28 of the food chart. Primal is already very low in carbs, so I am not too worried, but I don't see much on your spreadsheet... make sure you're testing before each shot especially when changing food as it can cause lower BG.
