Good morning! My initial thread is here, however I need help on whether or not to shoot insulin this morning. Gucci has been well over 500 for majority of the last 2 weeks, and via the freestyle libre 3, even 2 units every 12 hrs of glargine wouldnt bring him below 400. After a couple of days and increasing to 2.5 units, it finally seemed to bring his glucose down, but this morning even after Gucci ate a full meal, his glucose is still alot lower than normal (see spreadsheet). Its been see sawing at about 200-240 for the last 2 hrs or so, and if you look at 3/4/2024 about a month ago, it was around 230 when I gave him 1 unit which put him in a hypo event.

He ate at 8:30am this morning and ive been closely monitoring his glucose on the CGM to see if it goes back up but it will go up and back down again, so i'm not exactly sure what to do. I can't afford another hypo event but I also don't want it to shoot back up to 500! Should I know I definitely don't want to risk giving him another 2.5 or even 2 units, but i'm wondering if I should give him a unit or even a half unit and see what happens?

Also please see the graph for yesterday - now https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JNFUwsUezDu7Yw-NFvhsEBYLMHzrd0ckdKT1ya2Gpyw/edit?usp=sharing

Thanks for the help!

The glucose started to go back up and is around 264 now and trending upward, so I decided to give him 1.5 units since i'm almost hitting the 2hr mark after normal insulin dosage time. i'll update the spreadsheet and continue to monitor. UPDATE, gave another .5 to bring it back to 2 units since it was spiking even higher.
