We are a little frustrated with this product from Purina; tried to sprinkle the flakes on top of the litter as instructed, but our cat just kept burying them, so we cannot see any color change.
Has anyone used Glucotest successfully and can share the experience?

My understanding is you would have to break apart the clumps to determine color change.

Please see my signature link Secondary Monitoring Tools for additional ways to monitor your cat. The gold standard is home blood glucose testing using an inexpensive human glucometer, test strips, and lancets.

The WalMart ReliOn Confirm and Confirm Micro, or ReliOn Prime are some many of us use. An unbranded version of the confirm is the Arkray USA Glucocard 01 and 01 mini from American Diabetes Wholesale.

Thank you. This test was given to me by my vet a few months ago, I'm only trying it now. Since I don't want to go back there, I can't ask her. This test sounds convenient, but not so in reality. I used a non-clumping litter, but the few flakes that were in contact with urine were buried under the litter. To break a clump would be kind of "yuk"...Anyway, someone just told me that this product is now discontinued, for valid reasons I suppose.

I found the Glucotest to be very inconvenient & costly.

Carefully read the instructions and you will find the the packet
only lasts a few days once opened. You are supposed to
completely change out the entire litter box every few days or so.

The chips must be read at least 15 minutes AFTER the cat's pee comes in contact
with them.

I found myself dissecting litter clumps to "read" the chips.

Furthermore, the chips only tell you if the pee contains sugar...
(BG is above the renal threshold.)

They will NOT tell you if the cat's BG is low....much more important to know.

Blood testing with a meter is really easier, cheaper, and ACCURATE.
