This is for my mom's cat, Buddy, who currently has a bad tooth and is on antibiotics that are making him nauseous. Buddy has an appt Monday to have the tooth out (earliest they could get), but in the meantime he seems to be throwing up what little food he's eating. From what she's told me, I'm sure it's due to the nausea. For the pepcid, how much should she give him, how do you give it, etc? Any info you can give me for her would be great.

FIrst, which antibiotic? If it is clavamox, it is notorious for causing tummy upset in some cats. I'd switch rather than try pepcid. but if you do use pepcid, it is 1/4 tablet of pepcid ac NOT pepcid complete.

Pepcid A/C can be given 1/4 tab b.i.d......I use Pill Pockets, at least with Vinnie, and I put 1/2 of a small, moist treat on top and 3 treats around as incentive. The 1/4 tab is so small that she should only use enough of the Pill Pocket to cover the pill, not the whole pill pocket. Verify to her that it has to be Pepcid A/C, not Pepcid Complete. Suggest she give the pill at least an hour before eating also.

Clindamycin is brutal on the intestinal tract. Get your mom to try adding some probiotics to his food to counter that.

That would be 1/4 of a 10mg tablet bid. Or 1/8 of a 20 mg 'extra strength' tablet.
