First off I want to thank you for all your help with Barbie when the vet said she had diabetes on 8/19, but with all the advice I got from this board it ended up she didn't have diabetes after all - Just a UTI & stress because of the vet - I bought all the supplies, changed her food to FF wet (mainly the Chicken & Turkey & Giblets (classic) & Friskies Special Diet Turkey & Giblets) - Now she's fine, but her sister Bitsey is sick & I would really like some advice as to what it could be - I thought that maybe someone on here might have some ideas - Since the vet misdiagnosed Barbie, I want to kinda know what questions to ask so I can help Bitsey - Bitsey is 13 & has always been a very healthy kitty, but she pulled one on me today big time - I now feed every 6 hours since they don't get dry food anymore - They ate at 5AM, 11AM & 5PM - At 7PM I went to check Barbie's BG ( I still do it a couple times a week just in case) & I noticed that someone had hairballed & then got sick all over their bedding & I'm trying to figure out which of the 3 it was when I saw Bitsey jump in the litter box mewing a little & straining a little & it was her bowels - She was having trouble going & I noticed it was soft & dark colored (almost like a dark browny grey color, but no smell) not much was coming out but she was hurting some - By 9PM she started feeling somewhat better getting her own water, but at 11PM when I fed again she acted like she was hungry but didn't want to eat but I wasn't to concerned because she had been sick - What I really worried about is the color of her stool - It's now 5AM time to feed again - no sleep last night worried - I need to call & get the vet but would like any ideas or suggestions - Please & Thank you - Donnis, Barbie & Bitsey

Gray colored stool indicates Liver failure. You will need to take her to the vet for a blood test to be sure. Look up Liver Failure in felines on the internet for other symptoms.
Caught in the early stages the Liver can repair itself so please go to the vet as fast as possible. Unfortunately I did not take mine to the vet until there was to much damage and I don't think she is going to make it so please please go to the vet and get a blood test done. Well wishes and please keep us posted

Hi terriy - Thanks for the advice - would have replied sooner, but ended up with a virus on the computer - took hours to get it off & clean up computer - Anyway, about 5:15AM Bitsy had a BM & it was formed, dark brown & a little hard, she did eat some food(about a couple of spoonsfuls) - At 11AM she ate again - no sickness, no funny BM & I fed her again at 3PM - It's now 5:20PM & she's still Ok - wondering if maybe the FF kitten turkey & giblets might have been too rich for her - I bought some the other day to give them a little more variety in food - Still going to have the vet check her - She'll be here tomorrow, so hopefully everything is ok

I'm so sorry to hear about your baby terriy - we get so attached to our "kids" & when they aren't feeling well we go all to pieces(I know I do) - I just take it one day at a time & thank the lord each day for letting my "kids" stay with me a little longer - lots of prayers & hugs going your way - Thanks again Donnis & Bitsey

after getting checked out by the vet....
sounds like a blood test and stool sample are needed.....

if it turns out to be food related. ....

you might want to add miralax powder ( 1/8 teaspoon) to the food.
if increases are needed, take it really slow.
