I found a store in my area that sells this product and I'm going to give the frozen and kibble a try. When I called they said that they only had the frozen raw for dogs but that it is the same as the stuff for cats. Is that correct? Couldn't find anything on their website to confirm that information.

Thanks!

The Nature's Variety frozen and freeze dried raw can be fed to both dogs and cats. The package labelling does say "for dogs and cats". I'm pretty sure that somewhere on the NV frozen raw product info page there is something that says it can be fed to dogs and cats, probably the 1 oz medallion size are good for smaller dogs and cats. I feed the frozen raw to my cat.

The Nature's Variety web site seems to be down right now but here is the product info from OnlyNaturalPet.com: http://www.onlynaturalpet.com/products/ ... 31069.aspx

I use it for my cats. Yes, the raw is for both dogs and cats. I use the 1oz medallions since it's easiest for portion control. Their site has a calculator to help you figure out what to feed your cat based on weight.

It does say on the NV site that the raw is suitable for dogs and cats. The raw line is called Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Frozen Diet For Dogs and Cats, http://www.naturesvariety.com/InstinctRaw

What varieties is the Instinct Raw Frozen Diet line available in for my dog and cat?
Nature’s Variety Instinct Raw Frozen Diets are available in Chicken, Beef, Lamb, Bison, Venison, Rabbit, and Organic Chicken Formulas for both dogs and cats. Click here to view our raw diet product offerings.

Are Instinct Raw Frozen Diets complete and balanced?
Yes, Nature's Variety Instinct Raw Frozen Diets provide complete and balanced nutrition for dogs and cats, all life stages and all breeds. In fact, we are the 1st and only raw frozen diets that have been scientifically substantiated as complete and balanced for all canine life stages through AAFCO Protocol Feeding Trial. We are currently in the process of passing AAFCO Feeding Trials for all feline life stages as well!

Why don't you have a raw formula specifically for cats?
In the wild, dogs and cats would eat the same prey animals. They have very similar nutritional requirements. Cats do need a higher minimum protein, more taurine, thiamine, vitamin A, and arachidonic acid. However, a food formulated to meet the nutritional requirements of cats will more than meet the needs of a dog. Our Instinct Raw Frozen Diets are complete and balanced for dogs and cats, all life stages and all breeds.

Stella and Chewy's is another raw brand that only has one formulation for both dogs and cats.

If you prefer to have a cat formulation, there are brands you can look into. Primal Pet Foods is one http://www.primalpetfoods.com/

I didn't find the NV calculator helpful at all. I put in my civie's info and it said that I need to feed 1 oz (ie one medallion) per day :?: One medallion per day is definitely not enough for my still growing civie.

Hi, I feel compelled to drop thru & “high five” Nature’s Variety. I LOVE this food! Baby Cakes eats the Raw Rabbit & Chicken. I cannot get my other furbaby Sadi to eat it, but I am most definitely sold on feeding any future new kittens raw only. It is fabulous!!!! Happiness here
