Natures Variety Instinct: Increasing BG?

i've been comparing BG #'s from the days I was feeding Mr Biddles 100% ziwipeak to the BG #'s these past few days which was when we changed to 50/50 natures variety instinct and ziwipeak because the ziwi made him poop a lot, and all soft stools.

since i introduced the natures variety, we've been in the 300's EVERY time i test him. those 12 days or so prior when i fed him 100% ziwipeak, we were mostly in the 100's and 200's with the occasional 300. (ALPHATRAK2)

to slightly add to the confusion, we had done an increase a couple weeks ago. however, there was NO NDW after that. in fact we had a nice day of coasting in the 100's.

just yesterday we did an increase after so many 300's, and we're still in the 300's. could be NDW, for whatever reason, hitting us this time, but i've got a hunch:

were the better numbers on 100% ziwipeak a coincidence or is the natures variety instinct making his BG higher?

i realize natures variety is a low carb food - heck i even remove the bits of carrot and peas before serving, fwiw - but i'm having a suspicion. that had always been my go-to food going back several months now during this looooooooooooooong period of trying to get him regulated. i dont know WHY natures variety instinct would be a problem, but maybe it just is. maybe its been working against us, strangely, inexplicably. i know it *shouldnt* be a problem - its on the safe list for diabetics and all, but gee whiz its so suspicious when i look at my little chart of his BG's and the foods he ate those days.

thoughts? experiences? am i delusional???

will further test this theory by going back to 100% ziwipeak starting tonight. i HATE seeing him in the 300's.

Hi, Misterbeesmom. It seems like some cats are much more sensitive to carbs than others - ECID. My kitty is extremely sensitive to carbs and generally cannot eat anything over about 3% without raising his BG. But there are the odd foods that are a bit higher that he can successfully eat; I believe it has to due with the glycemic index of a food, although I have enough trouble just sorting out carbs without tackling that, as well, lol. With us, it's become a matter of trial and error when it comes to those foods. Sorry not to be more helpful.
