Hello everyone!

Has anyone in this board heard of Naturea wet cat food? If yes, do you think is it a proper food for diabetic cats and if it has low phosphorus levels? My OTC cat, Juno, has been fed with ziwipeak, but now that I have moved to a different country I cannot find it here in the pet shops.

This is their website: http://natureapetfoods.com/index.php and it is sold in a few European countries.

Thank you!
Cristina

There are some online calculators where you can plug in the known values from the can to get an estimate of the carbohydrates.

Here's one

Hi Cristina,

Glad to see you here. Here is the link to the european food chart that I mentioned: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=64843

It's actually in this forum in one of the posts above.

I'm going to alert Elizabeth & Bertie to your post - she's in the UK and may be more familiar with this product.

Hi BJM,

Thanks a lot. According to that calculator the carbs percentage is around 3.5%, but I would like to know if someone has used it before and if they didn't have any problems with that food. Juno has been doing so well with ziwipeak that I'm afraid of switching his food.

Hi Hillary,

Thanks a lot for the file. I was already aware of it but Naturea is not on the list.

I have used the calculator that BJM adviced and the carbs percentage appears to 3.5%. I have also contacted the company and they send me more details about the wet food (I cannot attach the file as it's too big...). They also told me that the carbs percentage is between 1.5% and 3.5%, so I guess it should be okay. I am also concerned about the phosphorus content. I know that it's recommended to be less than 0.5%, but in the technical details they give the amount of phosphorus in mg/kg (it ranges between 2900mg/kg and 3100mg/kg) and I'm not sure if that's fine.

Juno is doing so well these days that I'm afraid of switching his food. I'm even considering of importing ziwipeak.

Thanks a lot for your help!
Cristina
