I'm posting this quickly before I run out to work but I couldn't not make the post. So I missed 3 days because I ran out of test strips. Bad, I know. I didn't expect to use 50 test strips in 3 weeks so it was my fault on poor planning. She was running very high numbers from previously eating dog food so I knew she'd be ok for a couple a days. Look what's been happening over the past couple of cycles with her numbers though. I have been diligently keep her away from the dog food and in order to give her some extra time out I've been hiding the dog food for a few hours so she can wander around the house. The dogs haven't minded one bit. This morning I've actually held off her dose because her numbers are so low. The thing is I also started using the new Freestyle test strips this morning (10/30) that several people recommended to help with the cost. I purchased these:

One person said to change the code to 7 on my meter and one person said no change was needed. I double-checked and I have the purple, AlphaTrak2 meter. I want to make sure it isn't an error in reading because if not then that is a major improvement.

Keeping her away from the dog food could make those numbers jump down like that! I want to say I remember you saying it was like 49% carbs? That's a LOT and could make any kitty have high BG! I'm really excited to see those lower numbers! They sure are lovely. To clarify...you didn't give a shot this morning. It says 2 on your SS so I wanted to make sure because at a 160..especially on AT...I wouldn't shoot anything.

I don't honestly know about the Freestyle strips...I used a Relion meter. Did you do any sort of comparison on your own? You could always try testing using the AT strips and then the Freestyle strips with the AT coded differently to get a kind of baseline on what (if anything) the difference is.

Oh, yes sorry. I did *not* give her a shot this morning. I was posting this before work and forgot to take it off. I was intending to give her 2 but I knew that'd make her severely hypo most likely. I remember you guys saying around 200-ish to wait and see if she comes up any but being that low I skipped it all together as a precaution.

Ok I just did some quick Google work and with the AT2 you don't change anything but with the old AT you change codes. Her PMPS is not looking good though. She's been in my room since I was at work so I know she didn't have any dog food.

That was a big bounce! Glad you are keeping her out of the dog food though as you saw what a difference it can make. Oh, these cats.....

Yeah so it turns out I did some more research and the 7 code is for the old AT meters and it seems like you can use whatever code was on the AT2 test strip container for cats be it 8, 38, 93 etc. Use the number that was on the last batch of AT2 test strips you got because each new batch has a different code. The last code on mine was 38 so I tested her again immediately after with the 38 and put in the updated PMPS. She's still a bit high so she is getting her evening shot. The initial test I gave her came back at 510 due to using the code 7 for the old meters.

Well she's clearly feeling a lot better. She's playing with me and biting my hands. She hasn't done that in a long time.

So glad Nala is feeling better and am so glad that you have not seen any blacks and reds here lately.

Thanks for the well-wishes! I'm thinking of switching over to the Freestyle Lite meter that a lot of people on here use. I'm not sure I'm comfortable with the Lite strips in the AT2 meter. Wondering how people use that Lite meter.
