Tonight Nala is having a going away party for her tail. Tomorrow her tail gets amputated.:(
For some background see http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/nala-is-a-cone-head.216485/.
Monday evening I took off her cone and left her in my bedroom as usual to eat. A little later I heard noise like a catfight. After confirming that none of my cats were fight I surmised that she caught her tail again. When I went in the room there was a good amount of blood around. This was when she was on the gabapentin. She is doing good now but she is now on both gabapentin and buprenorphine. She has also gained since she has not been active.

Oh I am so sorry to hear Nala has had another episode with her tail. Hope she enjoys the going away party. And of course sending her many many healing vines for a quick and easy recovery from her surgery.

Nala I do hope you bet better with your tail not in your way. Sending healing vibes from me and Mango. :):cat:

Second and third and fourth the wishes for successful surgery, and a very quick recovery. Poor dear little Nala. Keep us posted please Larry.

I hope Nala recovers well from the surgery. Myrtle is tail-less. I don't know if she lost it when she was young (she came to me at the age of 7) or if she was born without it - she just has a very short stub/lump. She does just fine without a tail except she looks a bit like a rabbit from behind when she runs (which is very cute). It doesn't stop her from jumping and her balance is perfect too. I'm sure Nala will feel like a new cat once it's over. :bighug:

forgive me my humor, I'm sorry --

but I can't stop thinking about playing a game at your party - pin Nala's tail on the donkey ...

This was when she was on the gabapentin.
Larry, was by any chance your Gaba manufactured by an Indian Company, whose exact name escapes me at the moment but something like Roxybarn ..? They were caught manufacturing off standard pills and distributing them within the US market. Other manufacturers might provide better quality/ effectiveness.

Wishing Nala speedy recovery!

I'm guessing you need to find her a toy to chase and bite, deploy it oftener -- Catcat loves his koi and his cotton-stuffed Beanie Baby

Bless her heart. I'm so glad she's home already and feels like being up and about. Sending more wishes for a speedy recovery and a contented, comfortable Nala.

:bighug: I hear head scritches and belly rubs are good for healing - I'm sure you'll make sure she gets heaps of those.

Poor Nala, glad to see the surgery went well with her having an appetite and moving around already! She's going to rock the stubby tail look and hopefully this will sooth her in some way so she can get back to enjoying chasing fun cat toys instead of herself! :) Kyo and I hope that she continues to heal well :cat:

My Molly was born with only about a one-inch tail to a feral cat in my in-law's neighborhood. I'd honestly never seen a cat in person that didn't have a tail (whether natural or accidental). What I found funny is that it seems to totally change what it looks like when they are walking away from you, compared to a cat with a tail. It looks like a swagger, like a cowgirl wearing chaps, boots and spurs. It makes me smile every time. :p

I hope Nala is back to normal and gets her swagger soon.
