I must admit I haven't tested very often - I cry she cries- it's bad! Last night my daughter asked how she was doing and I told her if I don't get a handle on home testing I could kill her. Saying the words aloud frightened me. So this morning, I prayed to THE LORD to help me, to guide me and HE did. Her # was 80 - 12 hours after her pm dose the night before. If I hadn't tested her and gave her the injection......... I tested her again this evening before her 7pm injection and her # is 115. No insulin for 24 hours!!! Home testing? Yes I believe I will, thank you! I may cry she may cry- but this is reality and sometimes things aren't easy but you push through!

I got chills!!!! Thank you for testing her despite her crying and you crying. I have been there. Wonderful, no insulin!!! Another testimony for home testing. It has been my experience with Bubba that when his numbers are lower he fights me the most....... You Rock Siamis Momma!!!!

It will get easier. The day I learned to home test was the day I learned CJ was hypo. Had I not been home testing, CJ would have ended up at the emergency vet and I would have ended up with a huge bill. It's a great feeling being able to home test and knowing we are helping to keep our cats out of danger.

Thanks y'all!! Her dr is a huge supporter of home testing. She had a curve last Friday- highest was 218 and lowest was 114. I would like to get one more test in tonight- any suggestions as to what time I should do? Also, I think I saw a post somewhere if she tests high I SHOULD NOT give her an injection, right?

Did you mean if she test low to not give the shot?. If low anything 200 or under, do not give the insulin.

Were these numbers from the vet? If so, she could be 100+lower at home. (Stress raises levels and most cats are very stressed at the vet). As others have said, we suggest you not give insulin if she is under 200. Instead stall - wait 20 minutes without feeding and retest. You want to be sure she is rising, not falling, and 200+
