The cats/kittens have had stool issues (to put it delicately), but on Christmas night, I was seeing little bits of blood. Earl wouldn't eat, so figured it was him, but I thought it was vomit. Came home from work yesterday and he was pathetic, and it was clear he had blood in his stool. Got him into the vet, and his temp was low, dehydrated and slow heart rate. They kept him to hydrate and warm him, but she said it didn't look good. Talked to her at noon and blood work showed nothing big but she said it looked like he was sloughing off some of the small intestine cells. She said we could look at him tomorrow morning to see if the antibiotic was helping, but she wasn't holding out much hope. Will probably have to say goodbye tomorrow morning. He's around 18 by best guess. Thanks for the prayers.

Praying for Earl Grey to make a turn around and feel better today.

Re: My old kitty Earl Grey needs prayers

I'm sorry to hear about your Kitty, Earl Grey. I had a cat that lived to be 18 and she got suddenly sick and was in good health her whole life.

It's really a blessing to have a beautiful cat for so many years. Now that my 7 year old cat is ill, I really can appreciate God's gift of the health of my other cat who lived so long.

I will pray that God will comfort him and you while you are going through this time. I know it's hard and I am sorry for the sadness you are experiencing with his health. God bless you and your kitty.

The vet called early this morning to tell me he was not any better and it was probably time. He was still giving hugs and purrs to the end. But in light of the idea to bring some happy thoughts at this time... Earl was a pretty ornery stray when I first met him. He even chased off a mama raccoon and her babies when they had the nerve to think they could eat the food I put out for him. He eventually was injured, so I caught him and got him into the vet. He had an abscess on his ear. The vet squeezed it and the gunk landed on my cheek. Funny now, not so much at the time. Found out he was front declawed, which explained my urgent care visits for bites while trying to become friends. In the end, he was a very sweet cat. He even let my youngest kitten snuggle up to him. So the next time you eat a piece of cheddar cheese, think of Earlieboy and his begging for cheese. Love you buddy!

Lighting a ring of candles, in loving memory of your beloved Earl Grey. Peace be with you.

Condolences for the loss of your pal Earl G.
It's always special kinda relationship when you have a cat you had to work with to gain their trust.
You kept that trust by setting him free.
Peace Earl Grey. wings_cat

Take care Jeanene.

Hugs to you for making the hardest of decisions we have to for our babies. I love your first vet trip story. Earl Grey was a very lucky kitty to have found you.
Fly free Earl Grey. Land softly love. rb_icon
