Hello, my mom just passed. She left me with her 14 year-old gray or Russian blue cat. He is the love of her life and he has diabetes and before she went into the hospital, she thought to stop giving him the insulin because he was getting skinny and he seemed fine without it. And it’s been about a month now and I now am in charge of his care and I cannot afford to go to the vet for I did not have a job until two days ago so I wouldn’t lose the apartment that I lived at with my mom and even though I lived with her, I did not know what went into the care of her cat and now he is so thirsty losing a lot of weight. I decided to start giving him his insulin again. I don’t know what to do online I need money so I can take him to the vet and I don’t wanna have to put him down because I can’t afford it. It’s not fair to him and he’s a sweet, sweet cat so what do I Do.

Welcome to FDMB
So sorry for the loss of your mother 🫶 We would like to help you every way we can, I know right now you are overwhelmed with so much on your plate and the responsibility to care for your cat and his diabetes, I know how it feels and not being able to not have extra money for his care, I have been there, below is a link for assistance, I use DCIN since Corky was diagnosed, they help with insulin, supplies an many vet bills, however if your cat only has Feline diabetes, we can help you with stabilizing him quickly, and dosing, right from your own home, we would like to know what insulin you are using, what are you feeding, are you home testing, this is also important because you do not want to give insulin without knowing his glucose level
We are very numbers oriented, so we can all be on the same page, we would like you to create your signature and spreadsheet, links below, if you have trouble creating the spreadsheet, we would be happy to do it for you, we are here for you, you are not alone
