The hubby has been helping me hold Harley when necessary for blood testing but today I had to work late. I was surprized when I walked in the door at 6:00 tonight and the hubby had just finished taking blood for Harley's BG! He was kind of spooked because he had to try several times but he finally did it and I am glad he was successful. Now I know he is capable so it will make it easier on both of us.
The down side is that Harley's blood was 157. That isn't horrible but it was a lot lower yesterday BM. One of the problems is that even though they had food out today they didn't like it so they didn't have enough to eat today. I am still experimenting with foods to find things they like. I started a list today to track foods that I fed that day and if they liked it or not. That way I don't keep wasting money on food they don't like or eat.

I wish my BF would hop in and start testing!!! I'm having surgery in 2 weeks and will be staying at my apartment most of that time, so he's going to HAVE to learn to test, since Chloe lives with him.

My civies are giving me SUCH a hard time with the healthy wet foods I'm trying to give them. It's all going to waste..they just leave it there and it gets all crusty and hard. I might just give up and go back to Friskies wet food with gravy. I was trying to be healthier and give them pates...but they are NOT having it. HMPH!

Well done on the home testing!

Remember that the numbers will continue to settle as both insulin and food changes take effect. One of the hardest things to learn with this disease is patience ...

Several tries and still only 157? Wow, very nice! Any stress/pain/kitty anger will spike those bg's and I personally mentally prepare for an increased number on any test it takes me more than 2 tries to get. They get annoyed and it's all over but the cryin' LOL

yep, agree with Carolynn, some of that may be due to your hubby giving it a go. if he struggled or got frustrated at all it can effect kitty too so i'd just log it and keep on going. make sure though to put "hubby's first test" or something to that effect next to it in the logbook
