Okay so I am frustrated and tired and stressed out. I made an appointment to take Poopers to the vet Sat morning to get his mouth checked out. I pray to God they dont' tell me he has to have all his teeth pulled but instead just fix the problem or whatever they find out and let me be on my way. I'm afraid they will do blood work too because back in October when I last had him there they did blood work for his glucose and said that his liver count was a bit high so I pray nothing further is wrong. I just want it to be a simple dental problem and that they can fix it and soon after see his glucose start to drop towards healthy stage. Next, I know my cats are picky and they enjoy crunching onto things. So with that said, how do you guys feel and recommend with me trying Young Again Zero Carb dry cat food? Keep in mind I have 4 inside cats and 6 that I keep inside but in another enclosed area. I want them to eat foods that will help them and prevent diabetes and such. I am going to keep trying with this insulin especially after his dental work getting done and see if the solution happens. What do you all recommend?

Most vets require blood work within two weeks or so before a dental to help ensure that the cat is OK for anesthesia and the dental.
It it hard to get a good look at a cat's teeth with the cat being sedated/anesthetized. So when the dental is done more teeth may have to be removed than the pre-dental examination indicated.
Young Again is good forr as far as dry foods go. Howevr, I tried some and none of my cats like it. My dog did though.

Yeah that is what I am worried about and why I sent a message on here asking if anyone had any leftover YA food that they wouldn't mind giving to me to try because I bought it last year and don't recall my cats liking it much. I just want to feed them the best hard food I can find in conjunction with the wet food I feed them. However, I didn't add any flavor packet the last time I bought the food.

Do you have to feed them together? For the time being, can you feed Poopers the wet and give them some dry? I know that most people who have multiple cats feed Friskies in large cans as it is the most economical.

I think others also suggested holding the dose a while and then increasing by .25, not a whole unit.

I would guess, especially as I think you saw a sore in his mouth, that an infection of some sort is raising the numbers. Hope it turns out to be something simple.

No, the dry food is with Poopers and the other inside cats. The dry food I have now (Wellness Core) is laid out for everyone inside( 4 cats). But I know my babies love dry food but I want to find the lowest Carb food possible with the great ingredients. So I know I have either a choice from Young Again or Epigen 90. But I hope his problem is very simple and can be easily fixed so I can start seeing him in healthy numbers and thus giving his pancreas a chance to heal.

I feed YA zero carb food to both my cats fo a few months now. They mostly eat FF classic but hey about a 1/4 cup spread out the day of YA. You should call and ask for a sample , I'm sure they can send it to you, If not I'll send you a little.

I contacted YA by email last year (contact link on their website) and got a couple of really nice replies from the company president. I feel certain that if you contact them, they will send you a free sample.

After a 1110 BG on Dasher I seriously have limited the amout of the Young Again, Dasher & Blitzen get a total of 20 pieces a day but spread out thru the day. I've learned a great lesson and will not go backward.

Sometimes liver tests elevate when the liver is being given a bit too much fat too handle. This can happen with insufficient insulin to match the glucose, insufficient calories for the metabolic requirements, or sometimes too much dietary fat. Be alert for signs of jaundice, or yellowing of light colored skin and the whites of the eyes. If you see that, please get to a vet asap.

If you contact the company that makes Young Again, either on their website or by phone, they will send you some sample packets, plus if I remember right, a coupon of some kind if you make a purchase. The samples should be enough to see if your cats like it. I mentioned to them when I called that I had 2 cats I wanted to try on it so they included an extra packet. Hopefully they will do that for you :)
