hey everyone. I just wanted to let yall know that wednesday morning we had to put GenGen to sleep. He was 3 years old. He was very sick for 2 weeks. On friday he was diagnosed having diabetes. We were in the vets office every day after that. Pumping him full of fluids and everything else. From as fast as he went down hill, and no recovery in site at all, we found it best not to let him suffer anymore. Could tell he was hurting, he was so weak and his weight was down to nothing. We believe that he must of been born with it or had it in his genes and developed it real young. And were unable to catch the symptoms because he was always acting those ways. Noticed that he was always hungry acting, but assumed that was from him being in the shelter and having to fight for food and noticed he was drinking more water but we got him a cat water fountain around that same time. Keep thinking what we could of done sooner. Trying not to beat myself up over it, but its hard. But I know we gave him a great few years...just wished it could of been many more!
Even tho he was only 3 years old, I'm grateful we got him from the shelter when he was a kitten and gave him a wonderful spoiled life. Rest in peace, my baby boy...we will always love and miss you!

I would also like to Thank everyone that offered advice and concern in my previous post.

My heartfelt sympathy on the loss of your GenGen. So young to have had to leave and 3 years, I know, seems short to you but to GenGen.......it was a lifetime. You gave him a home and love and you did everything you could to help him and you knew when it was time to let him go. There are times when there is another problem going on but the first to show up is diabetes and we are led to believe that it is just diabetes. Sometimes the diabetes is a secondary problem masking the major one. My heart goes out to you on the loss of your GenGen.

Hope said what I was thinking about another condition. Please do not feel that you failed GenGen in any way. You love him deeply, and may you always feel his love in return. Fly free GenGen. wings_cat

I am saddened to hear of your loss. Others are right, though. You did all you could to provide GenGen a wonderful life filled with love. And you had the strength to do what was best for him at the end even as your heart was no doubt breaking.
Know that you're in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. Made me cry reading all your posts. Even tho it is very hard with GenGen not with us anymore, at the same time I am a lil relieved, just because I know he is no longer suffering. My heart is broken but a small weight was lifted. Was weird but in my heart and mind I knew that the 15th was going to be his last day here with us. The last 3 nights I slept on the floor with him, so he wasn't alone. My husband tried to get me to sleep in bed, but I told him I just had a feeling and needed to do this. Last night I put his picture beside the picture of our dalmation that passed away last year, from liver failure he was 11. Working on making an area so I can put all our pets pictures together. Across the room is the picture of Baby, our cat that passed away in my lap, from all we could guess was a heart attack. Tried to revive her but didnt help. We got GenGen after she passed, she was 7. We had GenGen all but 1 month of his life. Got to get all their pictures together :)

Husband probably doesn't want to admit it but, GenGen was the ruler of this house! lol Always got his way, and if he didnt right off he would attack your feet or hand to let you know you were wrong! lol I am soo gonna miss him attacking my feet and threatening me for treats or to play lazor light! :) Will cherish the few years we had with him forever.

Chose this picture,From christmas 2009, because Christmas was GenGen's favorite time of year. I'm glad he was able to see and watch me decorate and play as I decorated this year. Also I'm so glad he got to see the first small snow of the year..He loved snow! Everytime I would put my hands together like his front feet are in the pic, he would do the same with his front feet. And always called him my lil angel when he was layin like this.

Okay, now I'm crying! It's hard when they leave us anytime, but I especially feel sad when they pass away young. All my thoughts for you, and bon voyage to GenGen.
