Cassie is still healing from dental surgery, so I'm trying to take it easy on her because it's been so hard for her. Gathering as much info as I can, this is what I've come up with:
She is still on 2 units in the morning and at night with half a can of pate (so total gets one can of pate a day with chicken sprinkled on top). I am switching to giving her different flavors instead of just ocean whitefish and tuna. I am gonna have turkey and giblets, mariner's catch, sea captain's choice, salmon, ocean whitefish and tuna, and mixed grill to choose for her meals.
I will get my relion glucometer tomorrow (6/13) and will start pretesting before shooting, and also monitoring her throughout the day to try and find what her peak is. I'll stick with 2 units for the rest of the week and monitor throughout the week to fill my spreadsheet for overview, and then get advice on what dose to continue with. My syringes with half-unit markings should be here in a few days but I'll have to continue using the pen needles til then so I'm only able to give in whole-unit increments.
Hope this looks pretty decent!! I'm also gonna order some corn syrup to have on hand for an emergency.
PS: I've been glancing at people's spreadsheets who also are using lantus and it's helping me to see clearly that you maintain the same dose or skip a dose if pretest levels are low, and if you do lower the dose you do it for BOTH AM/PM doses and do that for a few days.
