Please feel free to "report" this thread if you like but I have something to say.

As many folks have said I am the one who holds the syringe so although I read the advice on here, the ultimate decision is mine. Mel had been the one weighing in on dosing advice, I trust her advice as I have seen the success she has shown me with her own sugars and she has been regularly encouraging me in my condo. I am not at liberty of knowing who on here knows what they are doing and who is just learning like the rest of us. Just because they post a lot does not mean anything. As people post in my condo and I get to "know" them better, then trust is developed and I am willing to listen to what they have to say. I now have a handful of people that I know are experienced and I trust, who I also know, care about Silver. But I am no more willing to blindly accept the advice of those who I have never "spoken" to in my condo before without any previous communication than I am to blindly accept the trust of my vet. Just because your names are in green ink doesn't mean I will blindly trust that advice either, unless trust has been built up first, that can hardly be expected.

As for yesterday - Jill - I did reduce the dose as advised. However, if you had read the whole thread you would have known that I had thought I had given a fur shot. NOWHERE in any of my condos had anyone mentioned not redoing the dose until I read it in the proposed new SLGS protocol in the Think Tank. Hence my comment there about wishing that had been made a sticky and saving myself yesterday's redosing.

That is all I am going to say on the matter. I have a right to my opinion. I will not be responding or reading any comments in this thread. I was saying MY piece as everyone else seemed to want to weigh in yesterday, I was too upset to make my own comments.

Once again, I thank those who have commented with Silver's best interest at heart.

Juliet and Silver - who by the way - is fine.

you don't know how happy i am to hear all is well with silver!

my heart was in my throat last night when i read your post saying you were going to bed on a dropping 61 at +4 on top of re-shooting a fur shot in the previous cycle. i was glad a couple of my fellow moderators had seen what was happening and basically suggested aborting the cycle by feeding HC. feeding to avert a crisis was a good idea... whether you saw their advice or not.

on the off chance you are reading comments,
i hope you'll have an opportunity to study the info in the link libby posted in your thread last night: LANTUS & LEVEMIR - WHAT IS THE INSULIN DEPOT?. it's good stuff.

a full understanding of the following concepts will go a long way in helping to regulate kitty's blood glucose when using Lantus or Levemir (clickable links):

Onset - the length of time before insulin reaches the bloodstream & begins lowering blood glucose
Peak/Nadir - the lowest point in the cycle
Duration - the length of time insulin continues to lower blood glucose

Carryover - insulin effects lasting past the insulin's official duration
Overlap - the period of time when the effect of one insulin shot is diminishing and the next insulin shot is taking effect
Insulin Depot - a "spare tank" of insulin, which has yet to be used by the body

if you have questions, please ask.

wishing you and silver the best...

Hi Jill,
I had actually gone to bed before reading Libby's post but having already had previous advice about feeding a low number, I gave him some normal food and set the alarm for two hours later. I would never leave him on a low number without checking on him. I do care about my baby.

I wasn't actually aiming my post here at you as I know you have commented in my condo and helped in the past and I have appreciated that and let you know via PM. I am sorry, but I was aiming it mostly at Carl for his harsh comments AFTER my apology. I was worn out beat tired yesterday so I know I came across as defensive. As Mel made it clear, she hadn't given me dosing advice in her PM and I didn't like Carl's attack on her. And I know it was directed at her and not at me or anyone else tempted to get advice via PM. I have read ALL of the THINK TANK messages from start to finish and I have seen where that came from.

I have been told about the depot before but I will read the link here again when I have time. This mommy needs some rest before work tomorrow.

I will not be responding or reading any comments in this thread.

Thanks at least for being honest, Juliet. Not about the above, but about your real motivation for posting this thread. But I'm pretty sure Mel is a big girl and doesn't need you fighting her battles.

Good luck with Silver,

Carl

P.S. This thread has been reported as well.
