my cats bg is 571

took her pre meal/shot bg and it showed as 571!
how can i get her back to normal levels? she seems fine and is even asking for food, can she eat? her normal dose is 1u prozinc

Yes, she can eat. Give her the PM shot and check her in an hour or two. Check my spreadsheet for Yoyo. You will notice some BGs in the 500s for him. I know it is a shock when it happens but it is not that unusual. You don't have a spreadsheet so I can't look at what has been going on with your cat, so I can't really offer any help. What I can do is tell you not to panic. It does happen.

oh thanks Lana never seen number this high and now feel guilty for not giving her the am shot and causing her to be this high
so just giving her ff and her 1u shot should be enough? and how soon should i retest?

It is best to just let it play itself out. I know its hard but it is really the best practice. There can be a lot of reasons why it happened and this probably won't be the last time either.

Retest before you go to bed. . . just to see what is happening. You need to just let this cycle play itself out. Don't think you need to do something based on the next blood test that you might take an hour or two later. Relax. It is going to be OK. I know it is nerve wracking and I have a hard time following my own advice when it happens to me.

If you do need to reevaluate his dosage, you should do it on the big picture, not one BG in the 500s. Too many things can cause it.
