Hello, My boy Abu was diagnosed with diabetes in August 2019 and it's been an amazing learning experience and such a struggle! Caring for him now consumes my world. He's my only pet and I've had him since he was a few days old. Abu was diagnosed with asthma several years ago & had been receiving Depomedrol injections for it every 2.5 - 3.5 months for about 4 years. We knew there was a risk of diabetes and now he has it. We immediately stopped the injections and now we do a nebulizer treatment with Albuterol & Dexamethasone. Abu can be very loving, but is a very challenging and difficult cat to handle. My vet said he's one of the most challenging he's ever encountered and he had strong doubts that I would ever be able to inject him with insulin. I agreed, but I tried it and am able to easily inject him twice a day! Home glucose testing is another story. I am beyond anxious that I've not been able to master it and I will pose some questions on the Feline Health Forum.
