So we adopted our Bobby on April 29. When we adopted him we were told they were having a hard time with his glucose levels . He was on prescription diet m/d wet food. And here is the kicker he was on 5 units of insulin 2 times per day. His number were high. Max was 28. So we took him to a new vet. Our vet. She told us to drop his insulin to 1 unit twice per day. So we did. We also switched his food to fancy feast pate. That is all he gets. His levels have been amazing. Always between 6.2 and 6.7. I'm so glad we are on the right path with him. Our vet thinks he may go into remission. He is an amazing kitty.
When we first inquired about Bobby we were told he can't have any food other than his extremely expensive food. Was told if he got ahold of any human food it could kill him. We were sneaky and took Bobby to our vet before we even adopted him. I inquired about switching his insulin she didn't want to quite yet. Said try to get him more level first. She said we may not have to switch him. But also said if we don't see good results then to come back and she would give me a another type of insulin. And she also told me that Bobby would not die if he got ahold of human food. Which is obviously true. I'm very grateful that we found Bobby. We got his levels under control. We saved him from a life of hell. Bobby is not any different from any other cat. He still plays. Still tries to eat my hair haha loves to play with my 7 year old daughter. We let him on a leash and harness in our front yard and he just basks in the sun!!!! I love this cat so much. Glad we could save him. Animal services probably would have killed him with 10 units in total per day.
he is down to 2 units per day total
