Hi all. Murphy's doing a little better, although the night shirts she's not into, the other day, I found it in the litter box - comical - she poopied on it!

I was wondering if anyone has ever considered changing a diabetic kitty's diet and how they did it. I'd like to keep Murphy on the Evo brand, but would like to get her off the Evo cat and kitten. She's gaining weight, and it's very rich in everything.

Any ideas?

Just change slowly by mixing in some of the new with the old and gradually increase the amount of the new until it is all new food. BTW, why not just feed less of the existing food?

It's fairly easy to switch a normal cat over, and I've been through that before with both when Murphy wasn't diabetic, but the Evo cat and kitten has almost 600 calories per 5.5 oz can if I'm reading their guaranteed analysis correctly. When I looked at the Wellness chicken grain fee that Oscie gets, it's like 202 calories per 5.5 oz. can. She's over 14 pounds now, and I certainly don't want her gaining anymore weight. I have cut back a little bit on the Evo cat and kitten canned, but I can't cut back anymore because she gets nauseated from being hungry starting about one hour before she's to eat. If she goes to Wellness chicken, that's a drastic drop in calories, and my vet doesn't want me worrying about it. With the Wellness though, since I have had Oscie on it, his coat is so slick and shiny and beautiful. Not a huge worry, but I do worry she's getting too many calories.
