murphys been off insulin since the evening of the 28th. his #'s have been good in the 100;s...124, 140, etc.
this morning just as I am ready to leave on a trip I tested and t was 125 and an hour later after feeding 105 & 97 in diff ears. fed again. can he still get hypoglycema? afraid to leave and vet not open for sometime

Good morning! Just wanted to give my opinion, but Im not an expert! without insulin a cat cant hypo, it has been almost 5 days(10) cycles, so you should be fine. If you are using alphatrak, then the low # will be 68 to start worrying, but again, with no insulin you are ok.

Nope, it is not possible. I had that same worry when Dimitri went OTJ, but I was assured by the experts here that it can't happen. Some cats that are off insulin get numbers in the 30's or 409's, but that are perfectly fine.

ok thank you. still a tad nervous to leave him as I am an overprotective cat mom, but can breathe a bit easier and will try to have someone come check sooner than later too.

Donna, those are lovely normal numbers!
And without insulin these are a cause for celebration, not concern.
If Murphy manages 14 days in those sort of numbers he'll be considered in remission.
Keeping fingers and paws crossed for ya!

Thank you everyone.
The pet sitter took his glucose yesterday evening and it was 158. I will check later tonight or tomorrow am. I only have 4 or 5 test strips left and don't know if I need to reorder.

I'd switch to a ReliOn Confirm or Prime, rather than getting more ALPHATrak strips.

Your numbers look great! You should plan on testing your kitty forever even while in remission. You won't have to test every day once you feel comfortable, you can go weekly, biweekly even monthly. A Relion meter would probably save you money so as others have suggested. Good luck!

I love the name Dusty Bones and the pic!

Since I still have the AlphaTrak I will continue to use it and the test strips, so I guess I will go ahead and reorder another 50.
seems like I just did and because of my overprotectiveness, used them up rather quickly.
Good to know that I should reorder so I don't wait for the vet to call back.

Thanks everyone for keeping Murphy and me in thought. I know I have to monitor him for several weeks and report back to the doctor.
I know he is not out of the woods yet, but trying to be hopeful.
I still will get his spreadsheet up and running one of these days....been quite busy and since a couple months back in Feb-Mar when I
developed double vision, I cant spend a lot of extra time on the computer other than at work or my eyes get really tired.
The double vision cleared up right before Easter (a miracle!!), but my eyes are still tired when I do too much.
Maybe when I get my new glasses later this week things will be better.

Cassandra,
I know you heart is still hurting, but I pray you are doing better.
