Murphy Getting More Hock in Front Paws

Well, it just keeps getting better and better. My vet noticed last week when she was in that her front paws are more plantigrade than b/4. And, now, after one week, I have noticed they are even worse. She stated that it couldn't be from the diabetes b/c she has been controlled now for months, but we suspect that when she tore her skin a few months ago, she actually may have fallen and torn a ligament or tendon in one or both of her paws. Next step, x-ray on her paws, and we may have to put a splint on one paw at a time, which could take up to 12 weeks to heal. Doesn't seem to bother her, but we also discussed orthopaedic surgery, and I said, no way, with her asthma and all the other issues, she couldn't handle the recovery. Has anyone seen kitties b/come more hock even though they are under control?

I've been giving her Cosequin twice per day. I wonder if this has something to do with it.

Question to ask the vet: could she be having difficulty digesting food and absorbing or making enough B-12? That could explain the neuropathy.

If so, a trial of methylcobolamin b12 might help.

I have always been inclined to think that it is a B12 deficiency, but for some reason, she wants to lay off the B12 injections. But, those injections were cynocobolomin, and not methyl. I have the No-shot b12, but I want to be certain that it's okay to give her. It is B12 methyl and the only other ingredient is acacia and a little lactose. So, I want to be sure I can give it to her. It sure did help my neuropathy and I have it everwhere, hands feet, legs, comes and goes, it hurts so badly.

Her frontsees are totally plantigrade now. It cannot get any worse - there's nowhere left for her little paws to press down on the ground, but it doesn't seem to bother her much, although she does lick her paws quite a bit.

How much B12 methyl should I be giving her? I'm waiting to hear back from Dr. Pedersen's conversation with my vet (he's at UC Davis - the dude that created the FIP vaccination). We are going to start (hopefully) immune modulating therapy.

What's the average dose of B12 methyl?

Yep, couldn't get any worse. But, we're fighters and we'll keep moving on. Prayers, I think we both need them. I've become just a total ball of stress. I just want to sleep all the time -- at work, stress, at home, stress -- and worry, worry....

Hi ((((Lisa and MissMurphy))))

I'm so sorry you guys are struggling with so much. I can certainly relate to how stressfull it can be. I will keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.

I crushed 3gm tablets into Troubles' food every feeding. They were cherry flavored, he never noticed the flavoring and they NEVER raised his BG's. Actually I cant remember if the tablets were mg's or gm's ??? sorry it's been a long time ago. They absolutely helped Troubles neuropathy. I know ECID...I'm keeping you both in my prayers.

This is what you want; Methyl-cobalamin brand name Xobaline 3mg of pure Methyl B-12:

Vitamin Life.com....there may be other sources.

1-2 tablets per day....you can crush it and put into food.

Keep tightly closed in the original container and take out one pill at a time,
otherwise it absorbs moisture and becomes sticky and hard to crush into a powder.
