Murphy Almost 30 Days OTJ

Well, just to report, Murphy is almost 30 days off of insulin. I'm so pleased. We are reducing her Flovent gradually, already down one puff in the evening within the last month. It is the only thing that will help resolve or help the iatrogenic Cushing's. And, well, tonight, as I was stroking her now soft furry bunny rabbit like fur, I saw another laceration from the Cushing's the size of a pea, and it's right on the same exact spot as the last laceration. I fear this almost every day now, because I have to make sure my siamese, Oscie, isn't being rough with her. Her skin can tear just from jumping off the bed. But, I'm not worrying about her insulin needs right now, just testing her numbers throughout the day, and so far, so good.

I'm still treating her as if she is diabetic, even if it is a honeymoon, but keep your fingers x-d that she is off for good.

One thing I've sure noticed since she was Dx'd with the diabetes last summer, she is very quiet now. B/4 she was all over me, meowing all the time. Weird. But, that's stable I guess.

Love her so much. Lisa

30 days is a good indication that she's OTJ. Of course test her to be sure, and gradually you may wean down the testing.

Sorry to hear about her other issues, I hope they can be resolved soon.

The Cushing's will be dealt with because it is iatrogenic and can be resolved, which is all in her favor. We've beat everything else against all odds, and this too shall pass. But, this is another life-threatening issue dealing with a severe feline asthmatic, so careful and cautious we are going. I'm still checking her numbers a few times a day, and so far, so good. She does, however, have another skin tear, darnit!

She's a trooper. Yes, keep all fingers crossed that the OTJ continues.

Lisa
